Many children dream of becoming superheroes. However, the reality of preparing to play one on screen can be very demanding. Lewis Pullman, who plays the character Sentry in Marvel’s latest film Thunderbolts, recently shared details about his tough preparation for the role.
Pullman faced a unique challenge. At the start of the movie, his character Bob was “scrawny,” as Pullman described. But by the end, he needed to look like a strong superhero. He had only about six weeks to make this transformation.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Pullman explained his strict routine. He said, “I only had like a month and a half to prep, but it’s how to get superhero ready.” His training included a lot of boxing and gym workouts with his trainer for about an hour and a half each session. His diet was very strict — eating mainly chicken and turkey, with no carbohydrates. This plan helped him become very lean.
Pullman also revealed some surprising details about the final days before filming. The day before shooting, he limited his water intake. Then, about an hour before going on camera, he ate candies like Skittles and Snickers to boost his energy. He called this part “fun.”
He also talked about one scene where his shirt is torn away, exposing his stomach. To prepare for this, Pullman did two hours of abdominal exercises right before filming the scene.
The hard work clearly paid off. Pullman’s intense workout and diet routine show the dedication needed to look like a superhero on screen. Balancing both strict exercise and diet was a tough task, but he managed to get the job done.
