Kelsey Plum Enjoys “Training Camp” While Wearing Workout Gear

Summer marks the start of the WNBA season, and Kelsey Plum is ready to compete. The Los Angeles Sparks guard recently finished her training camp earlier this month. She shared several moments from camp on her Instagram. In the posts, she is seen practicing on the court with her teammates and resting after long sessions. She also posted a photo and video playing with her dog, captioning it, “Camp life and my son Abe .”

Kelsey follows a variety of workouts to stay in shape. In an interview with Muscle & Fitness, she explained her fitness routine. “I’m really big into Pilates and yoga,” she said. “This is not only for the off-season. During the season, Pilates and yoga help me stay strong, flexible, and nimble.”

Cardio workouts are also important to her. She shared more about her favorite cardio exercises in the same interview. “I focus on non-impact training,” she said. “Swimming workouts are very challenging and improve my cardiovascular system during the off-season. I also recently started boxing. I enjoy it because it has a strong cardio component.”

Staying motivated is key to Kelsey’s workout routine. She told Muscle & Fitness that she keeps her focus by staying present. “When I think about motivation or passion, I try to stay in the moment,” she said. “Whether it’s a workout, a game, or lifting weights, I aim to give my best in every session.”

Kelsey also pays close attention to her diet. She told 2adays that she limits her sugar intake. “Since college, I changed my diet a lot. I went from eating everything to becoming a pescatarian,” she said. “I advise young players to watch their sugar intake, especially refined sugars, because they harm the body. After hard practices, it’s important to eat for recovery. I like chocolate almond milk with protein to help my body recover.”

Weightlifting is one of Kelsey’s favorite workouts. She started lifting weights at age 13, she revealed to 2adays. “I lifted three days a week in middle school. It wasn’t heavy lifting or squats, but functional movements and core strength exercises.”

With a balanced training routine and healthy lifestyle, Kelsey Plum is set to make an impact this WNBA season.
