New Running Event ‘Seoul My Soul Run’ Set for the 25th at Runner Sta

by Lana Green

A new running event, the Seoul My Soul Run, is set to be held on the 25th of this month at “Runner Station” in Yeouinaru Station, a popular spot for Seoul runners. Over the course of a month, 22,000 people have visited Runner Station and participated in activities related to the event.

The Seoul My Soul Run is a unique event that highlights the four colors of the Seoul brand, “Seoul My Soul,” through its running routes. Participants will have the option to choose from four courses: Seonyudo Park (4.8 km), Nodeul Island (5 km), Seoul Plaza (7.2 km), and the World Cup Stadium (8.3 km). These routes allow runners to pick one that fits their physical ability and preferences.

For beginners, the Seonyudo Park and Nodeul Island courses, which run along the picturesque Han River, are recommended. More experienced runners might enjoy the longer routes at Seoul Plaza or the World Cup Stadium. Each course will start from a designated starting point, and all participants will converge at Yeouinaru Station’s Runner Station to conclude the event with a brief, healthy recreation session.

In addition to the Seoul My Soul Run, visitors to Runner Station from June 9 to July 25 can take part in the “Harvard Step Test,” which measures aerobic fitness. After taking the test, participants will receive personalized running coaching. This special program, in collaboration with Runner Station and Eugene Investment & Securities, helps participants assess their aerobic capacity and provides advice on improving their running pace and training.

A city official stated, “We will continue to offer specialized programs to help citizens track their fitness levels and stay active with healthy sports activities.”

Runner Station, located at Yeouinaru Station, underwent a refurbishment earlier this year and reopened in April. Since then, it has seen an impressive 22,770 visitors in just that month.

Runner Station, part of the Subway History Innovation Project: Fun Station, has successfully transformed an unused subway space into a multi-purpose cultural hub dedicated to citizens’ health and leisure. The facility will continue to offer various programs aimed at promoting fitness and well-being.

On average, 760 people visit Runner Station daily, with the number exceeding 1,000 on weekends. It is especially popular on Wednesdays, when weekly sessions like yoga, body attack, and core-strengthening exercises are held. The station also attracts office workers, with higher foot traffic before and after work hours, particularly between 7:00–8:00 a.m. and 6:00–7:00 p.m.

Koo Jong-won, director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, shared, “Yeouinaru Station ‘Runner Station’ is a special place where runners can come together, motivate each other, and share joy, transcending the concept of just a sports space. We hope more citizens will continue to embrace running and lead healthier, more energetic lives through ‘Runner Station.'”
