Scottish marathon running is on the rise, with 11 athletes earning shares for their performances at the TCS London Marathon.
Seven men and four women met the A and B standards set for the Scottish Road Race Grand Prix.
London hosted the Scottish Championships, and the next event in the five-part series is the Scottish 5k Championships, set to take place at Silverknowes in Edinburgh on Friday, May 16.
In the women’s division, three athletes achieved the A standard. British champion Eilish McColgan led with a time of 2:24:25. Katrina Ballantyne finished in 2:38:44, while Sarah Potter recorded a time of 2:42:18. Brogan Wallace met the B standard with a time of 2:44:32, just under the 2:48:00 mark.
In the men’s division, British bronze medallist Weynay Ghebresilasie secured an A standard with a time of 2:11:21, well under the 2:20:00 target.
The men’s B standard required a time under 1:24:00, and six athletes achieved that with their performances in London.
