YORK, England — RoxFit, a York startup serving the hybrid‑fitness and Hyrox community, has secured £800,000 ($1.02 million) in pre‑seed funding to speed up product development and broaden its user base.
The round was led by DSW Ventures, the venture‑capital arm of Dow Schofield Watts, with support from York Angels and other European and U.S. investors.
Founded in 2024 by developer Ben Wilson and marketer Joey Allott, RoxFit offers race analytics, custom workouts and smartwatch‑linked pacing tools. The app has already been downloaded more than 100,000 times.
The company has also appointed Tom Sermon, former chief executive of The Global Corporate Challenge, as chair.
“This investment lets us build features faster, improve the user experience and reach more hybrid‑fitness athletes,” Wilson said.
Hybrid fitness blends endurance and strength in events such as Hyrox, a format that is gaining global popularity. RoxFit aims to be the main digital training hub for these athletes.
Doug Quinn, a partner at DSW Ventures, said the founders’ personal experience with Hyrox influenced the firm’s decision. “Ben and Joey know what competitors need, and their rapid progress before funding impressed us,” he said. “They are well‑placed to grow in a market that is expanding quickly.”
