Sophia Umansky, daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, is speaking out after facing criticism for using the weight-loss drug Mounjaro. The drug, which has gained popularity with celebrities like Meghan Trainor and Dolores Catania, has recently made headlines for its effects, both positive and controversial.
In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, Sophia revealed she has been experiencing hair loss as a side effect of the medication. The clip sparked concern among viewers, with many advising her to stop taking the drug immediately. Some even suggested that it could cause further harm to her health beyond just hair loss.
Despite the backlash, Sophia is standing by her decision to use Mounjaro. In an interview with PEOPLE, she responded to the criticism, telling fans to mind their own business. “They’re not doctors, and I think everyone needs to calm down and live their own lives. Honestly, telling the truth will get you far in life. Lying is not fun, and it’s not good,” she said.
Sophia also addressed her mother Kyle’s stance on the medication. While Kyle initially had concerns about her daughter’s choice, she ultimately supported Sophia after she consulted with doctors. “We have guidance from our mom. She wasn’t saying, ‘Oh, you should be on this medication,’” Sophia explained. “She was definitely trying to steer me away from it, but once I spoke to doctors and made up my mind, she was very supportive.”
While Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has yet to be renewed for a 15th season, this drama could make for an intriguing storyline if the show returns.
