Cheryl Burke, a former Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) pro, has revealed her impressive weight loss of 35 pounds over the past few months. Contrary to rumors, she did not use surgery or medication. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Burke opened up about how she achieved this transformation naturally.
The two-time Mirrorball Trophy winner, now 41 years old, made important changes to her health and fitness as she entered her 40s. She noticed several new symptoms that made her focus more on her physical well-being. Burke explained, “My skin started to show signs of aging, and my metabolism changed a lot. I even had random cramps in my feet if I wasn’t moving enough. I’m not as active as I was during the show, but my body just feels different now.”
Burke also shared that she wanted a fresh approach to health and fitness. During her time on Dancing With the Stars, she often struggled with body image issues. She said being “stuck in front of mirrors constantly” on the show led to body dysmorphia and an unhealthy obsession with her weight.
“It really affected my mood every day if I didn’t feel skinny enough,” Burke admitted. “I was constantly criticized about my weight, and it wasn’t fun. I even traveled with a scale because I was so obsessed. That’s not healthy.”
This time, her goal was different. Instead of aiming to lose a certain number of pounds, Burke focused on eating clean foods, practicing intermittent fasting, and taking daily two-mile walks with her dog.
Aside from the weight loss, Burke noticed another important benefit. She said, “I have so much more energy than ever before.” She looks and feels great — the best of both worlds.
