Ramos Arizpe is making strong strides in promoting sports and community health, led by Mayor Tomas Gutierrez Merino. The city has introduced two major initiatives designed to strengthen local athletic participation and encourage healthy living among workers and their families.
One of the initiatives focuses on supporting local sports teams. Mayor Gutierrez has offered financial and logistical backing to several youth groups representing Ramos Arizpe on regional and national stages. The “Pumas Cheer RAC” participated in a national competition in Tepic, Nayarit. The “Pumas Futbol Bandera” played in the North Bowl held in Torreón, and the “Pumas Beisbol Infantil” competed in the regional Williamsport tournament in Monclova. These teams reflect the growing athletic talent in the area, now empowered by consistent city support.
The second initiative promotes physical activity among municipal workers and their families. A recent Physical Activation Day took place at the Eulalio Gutierrez Sports Complex plaza. The event, organized in collaboration with state and national sports agencies, aimed to encourage a healthier lifestyle and build community spirit through fitness.
Speaking about these efforts, Mayor Gutierrez said, “In Ramos Arizpe, investing in sports means investing in the present and future of our families. Alongside Governor Manolo Jimenez, we support municipal schools because they develop local talent. We also stand behind programs that encourage physical activity among our workers, who are the backbone of the city.”
These programs underline the city’s commitment to creating a stronger, more active, and united community. Ramos Arizpe is shaping a future where sports and health are part of everyday life, and where local pride grows through teamwork, competition, and wellness.
