Residents of Murray Bridge gathered at Edwards Square to kick off a push-up challenge aimed at raising funds for mental health services.
The event, organized by Headspace Murray Bridge and Snap Fitness, encouraged participants to complete their first 50 push-ups together.
From June 4 to June 26, those taking part will work toward a combined goal of 3,214 push-ups — representing the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2023.
Abe Jammoul, Snap Fitness club manager, emphasized the importance of every single push-up in the challenge.
“Each push-up is a reminder that we are here for those struggling with mental health issues,” he said.
Participants are also encouraged to use the Push for Better app, which helps track progress, funds raised, and provides daily push-up targets.
Radio presenter Craig Pitman, taking on the challenge for the second year, shared his enthusiasm.
“The challenge is a great way to stay committed to fitness and mental health, and to encourage conversations about these important topics,” he said. “It builds resilience — once you push through each step, it becomes easier.”
