Hanoi (VNA) – On June 15, more than 1,000 yoga instructors, practitioners, and enthusiasts gathered at Yen So Park in Hanoi. They came together for a lively festival to mark International Yoga Day 2025.
The event was organised by the Hanoi Yoga Federation. It attracted participants from yoga clubs across Hanoi and other provinces. Representatives from the Indian Embassy in Vietnam also attended. Officials from several ministries and Hanoi authorities were present, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).
This year’s festival carried the theme “Yoga for Peace and Community Health.” It was a major activity ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21. The program included a large group yoga performance, artistic yoga displays, exchanges between instructors and students, and public sessions promoting healthy lifestyles.
A standout moment was when more than 1,000 yoga practitioners formed a map of Vietnam. This symbolised unity, discipline, and peace.
Le Duc Chuong, president of the Hanoi Yoga Federation, said at the event, “This festival is an opportunity to show love for our country and peace. It helps spread compassion among people through yoga.”
International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide. It honours yoga’s physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. The United Nations General Assembly officially declared the day in December 2014. This followed a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first International Yoga Day took place on June 21, 2015.
Yoga was introduced to Vietnam decades ago. The number of practitioners has grown significantly each year. According to the Vietnam Yoga Federation, there are over 4,300 yoga clubs in the country. More than 550,000 people practice yoga regularly, with millions practicing occasionally.
