The studio has been created by converting an old group exercise room. It now features modern reformer Pilates machines. People were able to try the equipment for free during a two-week trial period.
The new facility was officially opened by Saima Ashraf, the deputy leader of Barking and Dagenham Council. She said, “This is a chance for people to become more active. Reformer Pilates is gaining popularity.”
The studio offers two fitness levels. One is designed for beginners, and the other, called Reformer Ignite, is for more advanced users.
These low-impact workouts use the whole body. They are suitable for everyone, including those recovering from injury, people wanting a high-intensity workout, and anyone looking for new fitness challenges.
Abbey Leisure Centre is one of only four leisure centres in Britain run by Everyone Active to have this specialist reformer Pilates equipment.
