EDMONTON, Alberta — June 16, 2025 — As summer arrives and temperatures rise, Edmontonians have a new way to stay active outdoors. From June 16 to 21, YMCA locations across the city are offering free outdoor fitness classes and group activities.
The initiative includes bootcamps, yoga sessions, walking groups, and running groups, all provided at no cost. These classes will be held at multiple YMCA locations: Castle Downs Family YMCA in the north, Don Wheaton Family YMCA downtown, Jamie Platz Family YMCA in the west end, and William Lutsky Family YMCA in the south.
“This time of year is the perfect opportunity to try something new, get active, and connect with others,” said Taylor Cheung, Director of Member Experience at the YMCA of Northern Alberta. “We wanted to give people a free and welcoming space where they can enjoy physical activity without pressure or judgment.”
Cheung added that group fitness brings important benefits. “There’s something powerful about working out with others. It’s encouraging, motivating, and simply more fun.”
The YMCA encourages community members of all fitness levels to join and take advantage of this limited-time opportunity.
