Samsung Launches One UI 8 Watch with New Sleep, Heart, and Fitness Features

by Lana Green

Samsung has announced new health-tracking features in its upcoming One UI 8 Watch software. These tools aim to help users build better daily habits by improving sleep, heart health, fitness, and nutrition monitoring.

The update will be available through a limited beta program. It brings new features to Galaxy Watch models, including Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load monitoring, a Running Coach, and an Antioxidant Index tool.

Focus on Sleep and Heart Health

One key feature is Bedtime Guidance. This tool suggests the best time to go to bed by analyzing recent sleep patterns and lifestyle habits. It looks at data from the past three nights, considering factors like sleep pressure and circadian rhythm. The goal is to help users improve daytime alertness. It also supports people recovering from irregular sleep schedules by offering personalized tips and reminders.

Another important addition is Vascular Load. This tool measures stress on the vascular system during sleep. It checks whether the normal drop in stress overnight is happening as expected. This information can provide insights into heart health. If the system detects irregularities, it may point to broader lifestyle issues such as poor sleep or high stress levels.

Personalized Training and Nutrition Insights

For fitness enthusiasts, the Running Coach offers customized training plans for events from 5Ks to marathons. After a 12-minute assessment run, users get a performance score and a tailored training plan. The plan adapts over time based on progress, promoting consistent workouts and helping reduce injury risks.

Nutrition and healthy aging are addressed with the Antioxidant Index. This tool measures carotenoid levels in the skin using a light sensor. Carotenoids, found in foods like carrots and leafy greens, are antioxidants linked to slower cellular aging. The test takes just five seconds and gives users feedback on their recent diet.

Focus on Long-Term Wellness

Samsung emphasizes that these features aim to support long-term healthy habits rather than quick fixes. They are designed for general wellness and are not intended to replace clinical diagnosis or treatment. For example, the sleep tools can suggest sleep patterns and detect possible signs of sleep apnea, but they are not a substitute for medical advice.

The One UI 8 Watch beta will be available to selected users in South Korea and the United States. It is limited to those using the Galaxy Watch5 series or newer models. Some features, such as Vascular Load and Antioxidant Index, will remain in testing under “Labs” until a wider release is planned.
