Los Angeles-based activewear brand Alo Yoga has signed a 10-year lease for a new 7,018 square foot store. This will be the brand’s first location outside London.
The new store will offer both men’s and women’s collections. It will join other well-known retailers like Arc’teryx, Represent, and Harvey Nichols on New Cathedral Street, directly across from Manchester’s Arndale Centre.
Founded in 2007, Alo Yoga currently operates four stores in London, located in Covent Garden, Regent Street, King’s Road, and Brompton Road. The brand also has 71 stores in the US, 14 in Canada, and additional locations in countries including Indonesia, the UAE, and Mexico.
The lease deal was arranged by Sovereign Centros from CBRE, working on behalf of M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual. These two firms manage the New Cathedral Street property jointly.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said the arrival of Alo Yoga shows New Cathedral Street’s status as one of the UK’s top retail destinations. He added that as demand for premium lifestyle brands grows outside London, Manchester’s strong demographics and vibrant culture make it an ideal place for expanding brands.
Scott Linard, portfolio director at M&G Real Estate, called Alo Yoga a great addition to their retail mix. He said they are proud to support innovative brands like Alo Yoga that want high-quality, well-located spaces to reach new customers. He noted that Alo Yoga’s opening highlights the strength and variety of Manchester’s retail scene.
