DEKA Strong Fitness Challenge Scheduled for June 21 at Health and Wellness Center

by Lana Green

The Health and Wellness Center at Christus will host the DEKA Strong fitness challenge on June 21. This event is the first in a series of three DEKA competitions. It tests participants’ strength and endurance across ten tough zones. Notably, the challenge does not involve any running.

Mike Brewster, a trainer at the center, said the DEKA Strong is perfect for beginners in fitness competitions. “It’s ten challenging zones that measure your physical strength and endurance. But there’s no running. So many people find this a good way to start,” he explained.

Participants can join alone or team up with a partner. This allows them to share the effort needed to complete the zones. Chris Cullather, who took part in the challenge before, said, “You feel a great sense of accomplishment after completing all ten functional fitness zones.”
