Fitness Expert Reveals Weekend Workout Plan

In celebration of National Fitness Month, fitness coach David Lyons has introduced a new weekend workout plan. Lyons recently earned national recognition as one of five winners in EOS Fitness’ “Submit Your Fit” contest. His inspiring transformation was selected from more than 900 entries across the country.

Now, Lyons is sharing his training methods on NBC Palm Springs to help others begin their own fitness journeys.

This weekend kicks off a new three-day workout cycle. Lyons is joined by fitness partner Gabby to demonstrate his signature method, called Optimal Body Contraction Training. The routine uses resistance bands anchored at a low angle to target specific muscle groups through controlled movement.

Day one of the workout focuses on the chest, back, and shoulders. The session begins with an incline chest press, held for four seconds at the top. Next is a back row, designed to improve posture and engage the shoulder blades. The final exercise works the shoulders with an overhead press, also held for four seconds.

Lyons explains that contraction training builds strength and control by emphasizing slow, deliberate movements in each repetition.
