Roseburg Parks and Recreation will start its “Yoga in the Park” program in July.
According to a city announcement, free yoga sessions will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. These classes take place in a peaceful area east of the band shell at Stewart Park. The sessions will run from July 5 through August 30.
The “Yoga in the Park” series first began in 2012.
Tracy David, Parks and Recreation Coordinator, said the classes are open to all skill levels. She added, “Even if you have never been to a yoga class like me, it’s easy to follow along.” David described the atmosphere as relaxed, with about 30 men and women spread out on the grass.
Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to sign in and be ready by 10 a.m. They should bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. Organizers also recommend not eating or drinking for at least an hour before class.
Those who come early can enter a prize drawing sponsored by Thrive Umpqua. The drawing happens after each class.
